Inequalities in society shape opportunities, experiences, and outcomes for individuals and communities. The Diversity Concentration provides students with the tools to critically examine race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and religion as key social factors. By understanding the causes and consequences of social inequality, students gain insights into how structural barriers reinforce disparities and how they can work toward meaningful change.

In this concentration, students take courses that explore the social dimensions of diversity and inequality. They will analyze the institutional forces that maintain disparities, study how individuals and communities navigate these systems, and consider strategies for fostering equity and inclusion. The curriculum includes courses on race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, religion, and social inequality, allowing students to develop a broad yet focused understanding of these crucial topics.

Graduates with expertise in diversity studies find meaningful careers in human resources, social services, public policy, education, and market research. They work as diversity and inclusion specialists, case workers, human resource coordinators, and analysts who help organizations understand and engage with diverse populations. This concentration is ideal for students passionate about making a difference in diverse communities.
